STEVEN A. ALPERT
Managing Attorney
Steven Alpert received his Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall School of Law and his BA in Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles, graduating magna cum laude. His law school honors included Moot Court Oralist Commendation. Steven is a member of the State Bars of California, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Nevada. Steven Alpert is the Chief Operating Officer and a practicing attorney with Price Law Group, one of the nation’s largest consumer bankruptcy law firms.
Prior to joining Price Law Group, Steven was an associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins, where he worked on a variety of transactional and litigation projects, including bankruptcy. Steven was also a teacher of legal writing at Merit College. During the summer, Steven serves as a counselor at a pre-college program in both Madison, Wisconsin and Spain. Steven is a sports enthusiast and travels extensively. In fact, he has filled two passports, visiting exotic locales all over the world.

RODNEY T. HERRING

Rodney T. Herring is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law, certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Herring's practice emphasizes estate planning, trust and probate administration, including dispute resolution. Mr. Herring was admitted to the California Bar in December of 1998. He earned a Juris Doctor from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law with honors in 1998. Mr. Herring is an Adjunct Professor at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law where he has taught law courses in Trusts, Wills, and in Mediation Theory and Skills.
As a mediator, Mr. Herring’s areas of expertise include Breach of Trust, Conservatorship, Probate, Guardianship, Trust Administration and Insurance Claims. Mr. Herring served as a member of the Superior Court Mediation Panel from 2002 through 2004. He is also a member of the San Diego County Bar Association ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Section and a member of the American Bar Association ADR Section.
Mr. Herring has practiced in the field of estate planning, trust and probate law for almost ten years. Mr. Herring is a member of the San Diego County and American Bar Associations. Mr. Herring is a member of the Trusts & Estates Law Section of the State Bar of California. He is also a member of the Taxation Section, and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the American Bar Association. Mr. Herring is admitted to practice before the California Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court. Rodney enjoys traveling having visited more than thirty countries.

MICHAEL T. NICHOLS

Mr. Nichols’ practice is dedicated primarily to consumer bankruptcy and debtor representation. Shortly after joining the firm, he was promoted to Managing Attorney. Mr. Nichols’ legal skills and educational background enable him to provide our clients with wise and practical advise. His experience in litigation and trial preparation provide our clients aggressive advocacy against harassment from creditors.
Mr. Nichols is admitted to practice before the California Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Federal Courts for the Southern, Central, and Eastern Districts of California and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and both the San Diego County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Mr. Nichols graduated from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law with a Juris Doctor where he was an honor roll student. He received Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from San Diego State University. Michael is an avid sports fan, he enjoys writing music and camping with his wife and his two sons.

JOHN A. VARLEY, CPA, MBA

John Varley brings a suite of competencies to the firm drawing on more than 20 years of experience in financial consulting. Varley formerly served as Chief Financial Officer and co-Chief Operating Officer for Price Law Group, a multi-state consumer bankruptcy law firm, from 2003 through 2006. Varley concurrently served as consulting Chief Financial Officer for Imhoff and Associates, a national criminal law firm in 2004. Varley previously served on the Board of Directors of Surgilight, Inc, a publicly traded company, as Chair of the Audit Committee. Previously Varley was Chief Executive Officer of Esports Arena Inc., where he served from December 1999 through March 2003. Mr. Varley was previously the Chief Financial Officer of Virtgame (OTC:BB VGTI) 1997 through 1999 and the Director of Finance for American Classic Voyages (formerly NASDAQ: AMCV).
John Varley is an attorney admitted to practice law in California including the California Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court, and the US District Courts - Southern and Central Districts of California. John Varley received his Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2007. Varley is a Certified Public Accountant (Delaware) and earned an MBA with emphasis in Finance from San Diego State University in 1989. Varley received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from UCLA in 1984.
Varley is a member of the Business Law section of the California Bar Association, and a member of the American Bar Association, including the Real Property, Trust and Probate section. Mr. Varley is a also member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), the American Institute of Public Accountants (AICPA), the Mensa High IQ Society, and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). When not spending quality time with his family, John likes to scuba dive and ride his motorcycle in the desert.

CRISTINA CONDE LEE

Cristina Conde Lee has more than five years experience in the legal field. Ms. Lee has a wide range of experience as a paralegal and legal assistant having worked in bankruptcy, estate planning, family law, and immigration law. Ms. Lee graduated from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law with a Juris Doctor in May 2008 and received her BA in Political Science and Psychology from the University of California at San Diego in June 2004. Ms. Lee earned her paralegal certificate from UCSD Extension in 2004 and took the California Bar exam in July of 2008.
Ms. Lee served for two years as the president of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Christian Legal Society and speaks fluent Tagalog and Illocano. She enjoys helping people get the fresh start that bankruptcy can provide. In her spare time, Ms. Lee enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, spending time at the beach and camping with her husband Asa and their dog Bruce Lee. Ms. Lee is a Notary Public in the State of California. |

TINA R. VARLEY

Tina Varley has extensive experience in administrative support of bankruptcy and estate planning legal practice. She has been an integral person in facilitating both the bankruptcy and estate planning sides of the practice. Ms. Varley has two sons in the practice of law: John Varley on the West Coast and Joseph S. Varley, Jr. in New York who graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 2008. Ms. Varley is a strong advocate of higher education - her four sons holding seven degrees in higher education.
Tina Varley graduated with an AB in Business from San Diego Mesa College in 1991. Ms. Varley formerly operated retail businesses and has managed real estate holdings for more than 30 years. Ms. Varley is a Notary Public in the state of California. Tina loves the outdoors especially camping and hiking at Yosemite.

Hak Sun Yeum
Director of Technology/Legal Assistant
Hak Sun Yeum has been instrumental in the set up and design of systems to streamline and safeguard our clients’ information. These efficiencies allow Financial Law Associates to keep the costs of our services affordable for our clients. Mr. Yeum also serves as Director of Information Technology for Price Law Group, APC, one of the nation’s largest consumer bankruptcy firms. Previously Mr. Yeum was the Director of Information Technology for Esports Arena in San Diego, CA. Prior to that Mr. Yeum was the Director of Technology for BattleTop Korea and BattleTop USA from 1999 through 2003.
Mr. Yeum holds a BA in Information Technology and is an expert on networking, database and security systems. At Financial Law Associates, Mr. Yeum serves a dual role also providing legal assistant support for bankruptcy filings and trustee document processing. Hak Sun enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, especially snorkeling and family vacations.

Ryan M. Hamaguchi
Debt Counselor
Ryan M. Hamaguchi is currently a second year law student at the University of San Diego School of Law. Despite being a full time law student, Ryan also works as a research assistant at the law school for Professor Robin Barnes and is an intern at the Public Defender’s Office of Children’s Counsel. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from Gonzaga University in May 2007 where he earned Presidential and Dean’s List Honors.
Ryan has previously worked as a judicial extern for Hawaii 1st Circuit Court Judges Randal K.O. Lee and Steven S. Alm. He was also the first judicial extern selected to work under Supreme Court of Hawaii Chief Justice Ronald T.Y. Moon before attending law school.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Ryan enjoys surfing and golfing in his leisure time. He feels very blessed with the opportunities God has bestowed upon him and for the love and support he receives from his family.

ADOLFO PEREZ Debt Counselor
Adolfo Perez serves a key role in the firm’s debt counseling services for Spanish speaking clients. Mr. Perez serves as an interpreter for potential clients wanting to understand whether bankruptcy can be solution to their debt problem. Mr. Perez also assists the attorneys as an interface with clients who are filing bankruptcy throughout the entire process. Mr. Perez’s experience as a former resident of Argentina, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala,Mexico and the U.S. provides him a unique perspective of diverse cultures.
Mr. Perez is currently attending Phoenix University with plans for a degree in Information Technology and Networking. Mr. Perez utilizes these skills regularly as he maintains the content of the Spanish version website at www.FinancialLawAssociates.com. Mr. Perez formerly was a certified technician with Daimler Chrysler. Mr. Perez has taught Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue and Bachata to students for over 10 years throughout Central and South America.
